Hearst Museum object titled Acorn basket, accession number 1-2540, described as Pan Basket. Tags: Lassik, Tugak and second and 3rd tag say Lassik Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket, used, probably with acorn processing or acorn flour. Has distinctive Lassik cross warp start. Materials are conifer root weft with bear grass overlay with peeled shoot warps. From the start there is 1 1/2 inches of 3 strand twining, followed by plain twining until 1/4 inch from the rim where we get a single row of 3 strand twining and then 2 weft rows of plain twining. The rim is trimmed with numerous warp sticks extending up to about 1/4 inch from the rim. The slant of weft twist is up and to the right with a rightward work direction. The surface is slightly undulating. The design has about 12 parrallel bands, is single sided with irregular bear grass appearing on the interior. Basket has an exterior workface. The basket is quite distinctive from Northwestern California twining. Pan basket, close woven.

Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-2536, described as Tags: Kaitel, Lassik; Second tag Lassik Per Ralph Shanks: Open work basket, used, with some residue present near the start and between warps. Cross warp start, each crossing is 2 bundles of 3 warps that are bundled together by 3-4 weft stitches on each side. Entire basket is plain twining. From the start there are 3 or 4 stitches over 3 warps at each end of the start, followed by 2 rows of plain stitching over mostly 2 warps, followed by plain twining to the rim. The rim has 3 closely spaced weft rows of plain twining with trimmed edges. Warp sticks extend past the rim in a few places aprroximately 1/16 of an inch. Rightward work direction with an exterior work face. Parallel warp. Materials are peeled shoots. Basket is lacking any decorative design. Very little undulation. Openwork pan basket.

Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-2551, described as Bowl. Tag: "Tcunus Lassik". Second tag: "Lassik". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl, not used. Crossed warp starting knot. Peeled shoot warps and conifer root (Pinophyta) wefts with an overlay of beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) and maidenhair fern (Adiantum pedatum). Starting at the starting knot there is three strand twining for 1/2 inch, followed by 1 inch of plain twining, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by plain twining for 4 inches, followed by one weft row of three strand twining, followed by two weft rows of diagonal twining over two warps. The rim is trimmed, with the warp sticks extending up slightly. The overlay design is a horizontal band with a beargrass background and two horizontal rows of polygon designs in maidenhair fern. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay design is on the exterior and interior faces. The basket has a rightward work direction and an up to the right slant of weft twist. There are several hairs woven into the base of the basket.
