Hearst Museum object titled Mug, accession number 9-23917, described as Enamel mug. The body is stenciled with an image of a beacon above wave patterns, both in pale brown, topped by a band of abstract sunflower patterns, with red pigments filling the space in between. A black inscription stretches across the beacon image: Listen to Chairman Mao’s words (听毛主席的话 Ting Mao Zhuxi de hua). A green bowstring decorates the rim.
