Hearst Museum object titled Laba shango, accession number 5-16475, described as Laba Shango;  "Thunder wallet". decorated leather bag with full length overflap. overflap decorated with red fabric ground over which 4 square medallions decorated with fabrics and stitchery. bottom finished with 7 triangular pendants to which leather fringe is attached, 12 bead-like decorations of fabric and leather in groups of 3 (red/white/red) decorate the base and sides. inside is a poket the length of the bag appliqued with two rectangular medallions each decorated with inset fabric and stitchery. a leather tassel finishes each corner. the bag has a long strap for carrying over the shoulder.  Conservation: Leather very dry and brittle, some insect damage to fabrics, dirty.
Hearst Museum object titled Purse and coin purse, accession number 9-21222a,b, described as Silk brocade, drawstring purse [A] and matching coin purse [B]. Fabric is woven into hexagon designs, with each hexagon containing a different pattern.  Colors are geige, bronze, gray, mauve and cream.  Base = rounded square covered with self fabric.  Lined with silk and closed by a black silk cord run through gold-colored fittings.  Purse: H = 18.5 cm, [base = 17.0 cm x 13.5 cm]; change purse: W = 13.5cm, H = 9 cm, D = 1 cm.
