Hearst Museum object titled Mask, accession number 5-16065, described as Yoruba Egungun erin mask.  Carved, painted wood with huge, upstanding ears [hare?]. Face yellow with blue slash marks on cheeks and forehead; hair blue, embelished with silver nodules; stylized black beard projects from chin.  Ears decorated with carved lattice and geometric shapes, painted red, green, yellow, blue and silver.  Crown-like device topped with a cross is painted inside each ear.  Drum-like object is mounted between the ears above the forehead.  A hare/lizard combination animal is mounted behind the ears on the crown of the head, and painted blue, yellow, orange and silver.  Collar flange at the base of the head is unpainted and pierced for attachment of costume.  H = 69.0cm, W = 30.0cm, T = 36.0cm. Conservation: Several chips (original) are painted over, white paint flaking.
