Hearst Museum object titled Seal, accession number 9-18731, described as Square stamp seal, black handsomely carved in stepped layers with floral designs, the bail or suspension loop brown away and worn.  One corner of the seal is missing.  The base is deeply engraved with a two-line inscription in Kufic script with strong serifs in reverse surrounded by a line border.  Dar, blackish-green serpentine.  Handcarved with metal toos, polished.  Read by terry Allen as Qasim ibn' Ali, Quaim son of ' Ali.  Width/lenght, 22.0 cm by 22.0 mm; height, 9.5 mm.
