Red and black pigment used; according to collector, pigment is India ink.

Hearst Museum object titled Cribbage board, accession number 2-45262, described as Walrus tusk; top surface has drilled holes for pegs, engraved and darkened leaves; at one end is a seal and two sealpups and fish carved in the round; at the other end is a walrus head and the front of a swimming polar bear carved in the round. Baleen inlay eyes.
