Black and white negative of Ceylon jungle. Hoefler's original description: "Island of Ceylon. A view of the Ceylon jungle taken from the top of the famous Sigiriya Rock. The country shown is not under cultivation, excepting for small patches here and there. Many wild animals now roam this territory, which in times gone past was thickly populated, for at one time Sigiri Nuwara was a principal city of Ceylon." (Prints supplied to: Denver Post)
