[Twined basket with round shape, flaring sides. Band of geometric designs in black and red/brown on natural ground, scorch marks in base, rim broken in several areas. Found on shelf with Pomo baskets. 5-2003] 11/20/2008; Per Ralph Shanks: Twined Pomo winnowing tray done in plain twinning with 3 bands of lattice twinning. Materials are sedge root background with 3 bands of redbud designs. Single row of three strand twinning at the rim. Warp sticks are probably willow. Burned on the bottom. Redbud designs are horizontal (from bottom) parallelograms, rectangles and top design with downward pointing triangles.
