Description:
4" x 5" Negative. Bagoon in center foreground. Baboon sits and raises one of his legs for grooming. Hoefler's original description: "Baboon at home. There are many species of baboon, and all of them are amongst the most interesting of the monkey family. There are hundreds of thousands of these creatures in Africa, but in spite of this, it is most difficult to obtain photographs of them; for they consider man their enemy, and have very elaborate system of warning by which they keep at a goodly distance from all intruders. Photograph shows a nearly full grown male in a very characteristic pose.
