Black and white negative of the Ceylon jungle. Hoefler's original description: "Island of Ceylon. Another view of the Ceylon jungle from the top of Sigiriya Rock. This gigantic rock, which rises sheer above the surrounding flat land like some ancient castle of somber granite, offers an elevation from which can be obtained a magnificent view of a great part of Ceylon. At the South can be seen the Matale Hills.
