Basketry hopper. Per Ralph Shanks: Mortar hopper basket, used. Materials are shoot warps, conifer root wefts with beargrass overlay, the rim is redbud wrapped. Designs are formed by the contrast of the beargrass overlay and the unwrapped conifer root wefts. This is common in the Wintu area. Twining from the bottom: three strand interspersed by three rows of latice twining over reinforcing rods, the side is plain twined. Wintu, Achumawi, or Atsugewi.
