Large, deep, straight sided coiled basket. Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket bowl, probably made for storage, with some wear at the interior base but no obvious residue. The basket has an oval coiled start that has been stitched over. The coil foundation is three rods of peeled shoots, with some splints. The wefts are peeled redbud with unpeeled redbud designs. The design includes parallel diagonal series of connected rectangles crossing to form a diamond pattern. There are random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped and the coil ending is blunt with two diagonal backstitches. The weft fag ends are primarily clipped, with some bound under. The weft moving ends are concealed. The exterior workface has about 5% split stiches. The interior back-face of the basket has over 95% split stiches. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction and a mixed slant of weft twist.
