Coiled, shallow, oval shape. Snake design. "71 [in box] insurance list Mission South Calif. Snake design". Sticker "San C. ap 71". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled oval basket tray. Bundle foundation. The design wefts are orange, tan, and black dyed juncus. The background wefts are sumac. The design includes a diamond back rattlesnake with three black stripes at the tail and head. Two other designs appear to be a frog/geometric shape and a black semi-circle with two orange juncus rectangles. The basket has an oval starting knot. The basket has an interior workface with primarily a rightward work direction. The weft fag ends are bound under. The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered coil ending with an additional plain wrapped coil added on.
