Bowl basket; coiled. Warp is Epicampes (Sporobolus rigens), weft is Sedge (Carex). Red pattern is Redbud (Cercis occidentalis). Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). Very old, very worn cooking basket with grass foundation and bands of zigzag designs in black and red. The design on this basket called "measuring worm" or "inch worm" (fide Mrs. Silva, July 1973). Mended.
