Attic Red-figure kalathos; underneath flat and unpainted; lip sharply edged above; interior black; under lip, leaf pattern; pair of suspension holes here; principal scene: maiden picking flowers, approached by Eros (Latin: Cupid), carrying scarf and alabastron; he is followed by three maidens, the second with casket and scarves, the third with wreath. Red-figured vase or mug. Cupid flies with a flask and fillet. Four women with fillets etc; suspension holes. Large breaks that have been repaired. Glue is visible in some areas. The piece has been patched on the lower portion- near the base. The black pigment shows very small chips sprinkled throughout. Also slight discoloration (lightened) in black pigment. NFDN. The outside surface of the pot is spotted with small chips. Lip of rim: small chips throughout.
