This would be the mandala of a deity with whom the owner feels a special affinity, or the mandala of a deity associated with a particular function such as healing or protection. A person may go to a Lama and ask for help with a problem or fear. The Lama might then produce an amulet such as this. It would be placed in an amulet box such as 9-21869 or 9-21871 or otherwise carried on the body of the owner.
