Description:
Carved wood in form of three ‘mystic’ monkeys - “see, hear, speak no evil” (Sambiki Saru), sitting on each others shoulders in a vertical column. Iwazaru with hands over mouth, sits atop Kikazaru who holds ears. Nizaru sits on bottom, covering eyes. Somber eyes are represented by tiny inlaid black stones. Fine incised lines for fur. Smooth faces, worn a lighter color, the rest stained dark brown.
