Plain twined storage basket. Diagonal design of tapering stem with branches. Tag "251". Second tag "Klamath River type (not Klamath)". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined storage basket, used. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably willow. The wefts are conifer root and possibly willow on the base. The weft overlay is beargrass with another dark material overlay. At the starting knot there is plain twining for five inches over multiple warps, followed by alternating plain and three strand twining for one inch. Plain twining continues until the rim. The main design is diagonal lines with triangles on either side. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior, with a rightward work direction. The basket is from Northwestern California.
