Twined, tray. Tag on basket: "Klamath Riv." - Scratched out then "NE California" Per Ralph Shanks: Used basket tray. Start is a cross-warped start wrapped with weft material. Surrounding the start is three strand twining. Remainder of basket is plain twining except top row which is three strand twining. Double sided overlay. Light colored background is beargrass. Wefts are conifer root and warps are some time of shoot, maybe hazel. Designs may be black-dyed redbud. Designs include diamonds with crosses inside and triangles, both outlined with spiraling checkered stripes, in three clusters. Atsugewi or Achumawi.
