Hemispherical flat bottomed coiled basket. Two tags: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Wide brimmed coiled cooking basket. There is some residue on the bottom interior as well as abrasions and two burns on the interior wefts. The starting knot is twined and sewn over. The coil foundation is peeled redbud shoot rods and splints. The weft background is peeled redbud and the weft design is unpeeled redbud. The design is five sets of three horizontal bands of redbud with a break in the design that lines up. There are three unique designs at the breaks, including an area of checkering, near the rim. There are no random rectangles, which is unusual for a Yuki basket. The rim is entirely in unpeeled redbud. The coil ending is blunt with three diagonal overstitches. The weft fag ends are bound under. The weft moving ends are concealed. The weft stiches on the exterior are less than 5% split. The weft stiches on the interior are more than 50% split. The basket has an exterior workface, a rightward work direction, and a down to the right slant of weft twist.
