Description:
4x5 nitrate negative. Waves crashing on a rock on the Island of Ceylon. Hoefler's original description: photographer note: Island of Ceylon. The visitor to Mount Lavinia can have tea on a delightful veranda and watch the breakers dash against the rocks below. This beach exerts a constant lure on the residents of Colombo, which is only seven miles away; and to this delightful place come the wilted citizens of the metropolis after a hot day, here to refresh themselves in the surf, under a bright moon.
